Responsible Travel - G Adventures

Don’t just see the world. Make it better.

Planet Earth is an amazing place, but it’s far from perfect. Since the very beginning, G Adventures has operated under the belief that travel is an exchange, not a commodity. As a social enterprise, the planet is our product. Its social and environmental welfare is fundamentally important to us – not just as a business, but as human beings, too. When you travel with us, you’re giving back as much – if not more – than what you take away, often in ways you’d never expect. Here’s how we spread G Adventures for Good around the world.

Established in 2003, Planeterra is our non-profit partner dedicated to ensuring communities touched by tourism benefit from the opportunities it provides. Planeterra helps empower local people to develop their communities, conserve their cultures, and create humane and supportive systems for their endeavours. Planeterra manages over 50 social enterprises on all seven continents, that benefit women, at-risk youth, and rural and indigenous communities.

Plastics Partnership Project

Plastic pollution is a huge global problem. G Adventures is working with our partners to eliminate as much single-use plastic on our tours as possible. You can help, too.

Ripple Score

For years we’ve talked about how we do travel differently, especially when it comes to working with local businesses and services to build our tours. You deserve to see exactly what we mean when we say we’re changing lives through travel. Now you can.

G Local

We like to keep things local on our trips. Working with small, locally owned businesses rather than big international chains helps keep the overall cost of your trip down, but we also believe that your travel dollars should stay where you spend them. Supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses strengthens communities, raises the overall quality of life, and ensures that the places you love will continue to be loved. Animal Welfare

G Adventures recognizes the importance of animal welfare. That’s why we have worked with experts from World Animal Protection, The Jane Goodall Institute and The World Cetacean Alliance to draw up a robust policy, which builds on the ABTA Global Welfare Guidelines for Animals in Tourism and puts the needs of the animals first. We want to ensure that all animals featured as part of our tours are treated humanely.

Child Welfare

G Adventures believes that it is critical that no child is ever harmed as a result of tourism. Travellers have the power to make a true impact in the communities they visit, and that’s why we actively work to ensure child welfare is protected in the places we operate.

Respecting Local Cultures

Connecting curious travellers with Indigenous communities is an essential part of our identity at G Adventures. We are committed to respecting the rights, history, and culture of Indigenous people while ensuring that tourism supports their well-being.

Traveller Conduct Policy

G Adventures believes travel should be a respectful, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone. That’s why we have the Traveller Conduct Policy. This set of guidelines is designed to help establish a sense of safety, security, and enjoyment for all on any G Adventures tour.

Disaster Relief

G Adventures strongly believes tourism is a force for global good, and we’re committed to promoting sustainable solutions in communities around the globe.

Planeterra Projects

From the beginning, our mission has been a simple one—to help people and communities thrive through solutions, not handouts. We do this by providing the resources and opportunities for local people in the areas we serve to develop and strengthen their communities, and our network of travellers provide these communities with the long-term income to make these solutions sustainable.

G for Good

Responsible travel isn’t just something we do. It’s in everything we do.

After 30 years, this has been a shared belief of every G employee proud to wear the Looptail (that lowercase g with an arrow around it), from our company’s leader to our tour leaders.

Life changing experiences are our obsession. Of course for our travellers, but equally for the people and local communities we visit. We call it G for Good and it includes all of the social, moral and ethical Good we undertake as a business. Like the Looptail, it’s cyclical. The more you give the more you get back and the Good carries on.

That’s why the social value of what we do is just as important to us as the profits we earn.

Supporting the Planeterra Foundation plays a big role, as do industry firsts like our Ripple Score, the welfare guidelines and best practices we’ve developed and are committed to delivering upon.

But at the core of all that we do is you. Our travellers, suppliers, partners and employees - the greater collective - is what will ultimately drive change for everyone.

G for Good is what makes us, us - and you, you. It’s how we conduct our business, and ourselves, each and every day all around our beautiful world.

G for Good. Creating a better world one commitment at a time.
