Viking River & Ocean Cruises

The Thinking Person's Cruise

Every Viking cruise is designed for the curious traveler seeking rich cultural immersion. Our intimate, inclusive cruise itineraries are designed to help you explore and engage with your destination through its food, culture, countryside and customs. Here is some of what we feel defines the Viking Difference.

The Viking Way

With more itineraries in more destinations worldwide, we offer behind-the-scenes insights and opportunities that set us apart from other travel companies. In addition to our included tours of must-see cultural highlights, we also go beyond, sharing with you The Viking Way® with our Local Life, Working World and Privileged Access®experiences—opening doors to people and places otherwise difficult to visit.

Destination-Focused Dining

Whatever your tastes, we believe dining is an important part of your journey, both on shore and on board. Our highly trained chefs are passionate about food and committed to providing an enriching culinary experience, whether you are savoring authentic regional specialties or American classics.

  • The Restaurant

Indulge in attentive table service in our elegant, upscale Restaurant as you sail into your next port. Greet the morning with a sumptuous buffet. Enjoy a savory soup and a light salad midday. Come evening, settle in for a relaxed, multicourse fine-dining experience. Open seating allows you to dine with the same guests or meet someone new each day.

  • Sun Deck

Located on top of the ship, the Sun Deck provides 360° views of Europe’s ever-changing riverbanks. Enjoy a light meal in the sunshine or under an umbrella.

Serene Scandinavian Spaces

Elegant, light-filled ships thoughtfully designed to connect you to your destination.

  • Viking: Our Norwegian Heritage

Centuries ago, the birth of the Viking Age gave rise to the Norwegian tradition of exploration. Today, Viking proudly carries on this tradition, providing a glimpse into the spirit of Norway with elegant ships built for discovery. Join Karine Hagen, Sr. Vice President of Viking, as she reveals Norwegian influences thoughtfully integrated throughout our ocean ships.

  • Explorers' Lounge

With two-story panoramic windows for maximum views, the Explorers’ Lounge is inspired by epic journeys of discovery. This inviting space is the perfect place to share a cocktail with friends or relax while taking in the scenery.

  • The Living Room

The ideal setting for relaxation, The Viking Living Room draws guests together at the heart of the ship. Spacious seating, calming classical compositions performed by the Viking Resident Musicians and enriching activities foster camaraderie.

  • The Spa

After a day of exploration or a relaxing day at sea, indulge in The Spa, a soothing sanctuary of Nordic wellness. Whether you unwind in the Sauna, refresh in the Snow Grotto or work out in the Fitness Center, you will feel recharged and revitalized.

  • Main Pool with Retractable Dome

The heated Main Pool provides a calming oasis in any weather with its retractable roof allowing for year-round swims and soaks. In the evening, enjoy movies under the night sky on our giant poolside screen.

Onshore Experiences

An included excursion in every port, plus The Viking Way® of exploration.

  • Local Life

Viking provides fascinating insights into Local Life during excursions that reveal the rhythms of daily living in your destination. Experience Saigon’s vibrant streets by pedal cab. Peruse the dusty stacks at the most famous bookstore in Paris. Taste your way through a culinary tour of Sydney. This is the ideal way to experience a place like a local.

  • Working World

Witness wood carving in Bali. Tour the vineyards and wine cellars of Italy, New Zealand and beyond. Meet the harvesters of the world’s farms, from the banana plantations of Caribbean St. Lucia to the spice farms of Indian Goa. Glimpsing the world at work helps you tap into its passions and see its people anew.

Onboard Cultural Enrichment

Cultural enrichment programs to supplement your on-shore experience.

  • World-Class Guest Lecturers

Complement your onshore experiences with our onboard lecture program, designed to shed light on your destination’s art, architecture, music, geopolitics, natural world and more. They are hosted by a wide range of experts, from authors and archaeologists to former diplomats and news correspondents, eager to share their knowledge with you.

  • Destination Performances

Each Viking itinerary includes one or more Destination Performances representing the most iconic cultural performing art form of the region—whether it be Portuguese fado with its melancholy melodies and poignant lyrics; traditional Greek dancing; Italian opera, a centuries-old storytelling art form; or world-renowned Mariinsky Theatre singers from St. Petersburg.

  • The Kitchen Table

At our onboard cooking school, experience firsthand how our world-class chefs bring distinct, local flavors from market to table. On sea days, learn to cook dishes highlighting an upcoming destination. On port days, handpick ingredients at a local market, then learn how to prepare regional dishes and create elegant three-course presentations. This is a one-of-a-kind optional opportunity to shop, cook and eat with the masters.

All Veranda Staterooms & Suites

Every day a new view, with some of the largest suites and bathrooms on the seas.

  • The Perfect Retreat

Begin each day refreshed in any of our five categories of spacious rooms, including some of the largest suites at sea. All come with king-size beds, large showers, heated bathroom floors, LCD TVs, multiple US/EU outlets and USB ports, private verandas, 24-hour room service and more.
